NEW // bits of my bedroom.

my bedroom is finally coming together and i'm slowly but surely getting things on the walls. i really want to keep it simple and i'm trying to avoid clutter and mess. i still have the muuto e27 light on my wishlist, along with a corkboard map of the world so i can dream about all the places i want to visit. it's starting to really feel like home and i'm getting used to the creaks and bumps - let's not mention the time i thought someone was in the house so i got in the car in my pyjamas and drove around until my dad got there.
on a completely different note, i made a tumblr specifically for my photography. i prefer it so much more than flickr & viewbug, i've never really got into either of those. it would be lovely if you followed/reblogged/liked it if you enjoy my "work". it'd be great to be able to ~make it~ in an artistic job, i'm never going to be someone with a "normal" job.

everything seems to have happened so quickly and at my disbelief i am already living at the house permanently and only need a few more things to make it complete.
i moved in over the weekend as the floors were laid about a week faster than we thought they would be - good workmen for you - and they put my bed up too. over the next few days my parents and i put up the rest of the ikea furniture, bar two wardrobes and a chest of drawers, then came ordering the big things; a fridge & washing machine. i ordered them on saturday night and they were delivered on monday afternoon. the thing that i'm missing the most (and should have set up by the time you're reading this) is internet. the men came out on thursday to hook up the phone line (which i'm only going to be using for internet), and me not realising, thought they would be hooking up the internet and i'd be catching up with sherlock by thursday evening, but alas, after rereading the letter, the internet didn't go live until today, leaving me to survive on a 3 pebble. an upside of this all is that i've read my first book of 2014 and have started book two.
the stair carpet was laid on thursday, which was a relief! no more sawdust/dirt on my socks/feet/nice white floors! it meant i could lay my long awaited rug, the stockholm from ikea that i was coveting for a good two years.
i'm planning another ikea trip in the very near future with my friend; i have a £50 ikea voucher to spend (thanks, wardrobes & beds!) and the in-app list is burning a hole in my pocket. i'm planning to get some shelves for the living room and mine & my housemate's rooms and a desk for myself.
i'll be sharing the kitchen moodboard on wednesday, even though it's now done, i still want to share what i was working from.
this series is looking to be a lot shorter than i had thought! i may have to turn it into something else if it dries up before december!

a moodboard for the living room. i want it to be simple, clutter free & comfortable. of course everything is black, white or grey. i'm sure a little colour will be incorporated at some point, but i want to keep it a natural as possible.

first of all, happy new year! i find it crazy that it's 2014; i'm going to be twenty this year!
just before christmas, i took a few photographs of the house before we did anything to it. this was handover day. it was a bit of a standstill over christmas, but we got an alarm fitted and finally have started laying the flooring - i forced my parents to go to ikea in manchester to get the floor as it was taking too long to come into our local store.
once christmas week was over, i just wanted to get in & make it home, but of course the floor has to be down. i bought some fabric to hang up at the front window until the blinds have been made.
next week i'll share what i've bought/what's on my wishlist for the living room.

let's do this, twenty fourteen!!

as of friday, i will officially be moving out. i am moving out for the very first time into a brand new, unfurnished home and i am so unbelievably excited. i have always wanted to be able to design my own house for the longest time and i have a clean slate to do that with.
i really want to try and keep it as simple as i can, and i think i'll be able to as i'm on a tight budget. the space isn't huge, but it's just me & a housemate. i'm so excited to share the journey starting in the new year with a 'N E W' series.
i am going to be taking tons of before and progress pictures of the whole thing, but for now i will leave you with a quick iphone snap from monday.

silver anchor

posted on: Thursday, 4 July 2013

i have been really unhappy with my blog name for a while now and although it may sound like a ridiculous excuse, it has really kept me from being motivated to blog. for the past few weeks i have been brainstorming a few ideas for a new blog name and have come up with something with a lot of meaning rather than pulling at strings.

so, from july 5th, the rosy freckle will be silver anchor. i don't want you to feel like i am drowning you in bible talk when i tell you the meaning, but i just want you all to know me better and maybe more personally than you do.

i chose silver anchor because of two reasons. the first is very short, very shallow. i like silver. i like monochrome, i like grey, simple. the reason i chose anchor is because of the connotation it has with my faith. in hebrews 6:17, the hope that comes from christ is referred to as 'an anchor' and over the past few months, i have really found comfort in the knowledge that, with my hope fully in god, i no longer have to worry (a huge problem for me); all my needs will be met, i always have his protection and through jesus christ, i have eternal life. i try everyday to be faithful, loving and hopeful and because of that, i feel a sense of peace that i believe only comes from god.

i know it is a very long winded explanation and i have probably put more thought into this than i should have, but a lack of inspiration really is all you need to kill off a blog. i hope now that i will be inspired to create and share on this blog and i hope you will keep reading and sharing with me.

love,

xo

p.s - happy 4th of july to any american readers!! you know how to work independence!
