day one of my trip to dublin. remember to follow me on instagram // twitter // tumblr // photography blog to make sure it's not three months between each post i make.

for me, taking a self portrait is so much more than putting the camera on a tripod, smiling and clicking a button. i need to be in a certain mood, i need to not hate every inch of myself, the background & setting have to be right; they need to be how i want, my hair needs to be having a good day & i need to be wearing clothes that make me feel comfortable.
for me, a self portrait should encompass you, it should encapsulate your human form & your internal mind.

it seems very strange posting on this blog now. i don't know why, and i'm not going to apologise for it. nor am i going to make promises to blog three times a week or even three times a month. the one place i doubt i will ever stop posting on is instagram. if you're remotely interested in my life/photography, then head on over there. i also have a photography blog now, considering i'm studying the thing.

anyway, april was pretty good, i went to wales for the day with a couple of friends & i took some polaroids. i also went to see 'let it be' which was actually really good. it was basically a beatles tribute band but they were pretty good.
april was also easter, probably my favourite religious holiday, you know, celebrating jesus and having eternal life and all that. nbd

may has already been a pretty great month for me, i hope that now we're heading into summer (ha) that i will finally get into the swing of 2014.

when i bought the stool from the brakig range, i had no idea what i wanted to do with it. it was sat lonely in the living room for two months before i decided it would be great to put books on in my "reading corner" rather than piling everything on top of the windowsill/printer.
i went to the keywords exhibition at the tate on monday and picked up a postcard from the constellations exhibition too. i'm on a mission to find old simple frames and start a small collection of art, memories and inspiration on the bare wall.

i have given up bread for lent. i am going to start riding my bike. i went to an art gallery by myself. i bought a new film camera; i still don't like grain. i find it hard to be positive about the past month, but flowers are blooming and the sun is shining (sometimes). i am so ready for summer.

yesterday i went to delamere forest to reshoot an assignment with my dad & the dog. my plan was to shoot the birch trees but when we got  there i found that the majority of the trees had been felled. at first i was disappointed, but then i saw the piles and piles of logs that were lined up & looked so pretty. there really is something beautiful about it. the best part of the trip is how much jake enjoyed it. he was in seventh heaven.

as most of us did, i read many blog posts about the art rebels x bråkig collaboration at ikea. i was surprised how much i loved it despite my monochrome tendencies. the soft pastels and light wood just work so well, and i especially loved the brass desk legs. w o w!
i wasn't expecting the art rebels collection to be available in UK stores, so i was surprised when i was greeted by this art rebels "showroom" after i waded through the sofas.
i really really wanted the brass desk legs but couldn't find them anywhere. i am going back on friday and will search for them again, but i did get some bowls. i love the stools & the mint chair. there were also a couple of really eye catching geometric lampshades. i think the use of geometrics is really what pulled me in.
i thought that there wasn't a lot of emphasis on the collection, which is probably good otherwise everything would have been gone(!) but it was annoying when i was trying to track down the brass legs and the guy i was talking to had no idea what i was on about! it sort of made me want a job there, i would be so excited about the products and man i wouldn't be able to help myself rearranging that display.
